Can you sli?

Go to solution Solved by xToFxREAPER,

I am planning on buying a thrid monitor to do some NV surround gaming, and am strongly considering a second 780 ti, I know it only has 3gb or vram im not switching cards, single 980 isnt powerful enough, can not afford sli something else, but here is my question I already have a 780 ti windofrce OC, and was looking to buy another one used, and there not availble in many places, on amazon they have one, but they also have the gigabyte 780ti windforce GHZ edition, can you sli the two, if you turn down the clockspeed of the ghz edition to match the OC version?

it will automatically reclock the ghz edition to match the windforce edition. The 3gb vram is pretty solid for triple monitor use but could definitely benefit from more.

Yes you can, the system will just run them at the lower clock speed of the two cards. But you should be good to go!

They will automatically sync to the lower spec'd card. You can then overclock as the cards will allow. I have an EVGA reference, and an MSI Twin Frozer LE, and they are running perfectly in SLI.

Thanks, then should be great.

I know but if i were to sell the 780 ti that i have I would not be able to get two 980ish cards for solid fps, and its the proccessing speed that is needed more then vram, it will max out I know, but the controllers are good enough to handle it, as demonstrated by JAyzTwoCents setup.

Thanks, thats gonna be great since I like the clockspeed of the one i have already anyways, and GHZ edition is somehow cheaper.

yes i run two 780 lightning editions, It will play very nicely for sure but depending on the game you may notice a stutter here and there because of the vram wall youll be facing
