Hi m8es,

I've had my current build for about 3 years now (excluding the graphics card), and I feel that I need some new stuff. My CPU is still going strong, so I don't think I want to touch that yet. I get all my parts from here.

My current parts are:

  • i7-870
  • P7P55DE
  • 8GB ram @ 2133
  • 1 TB samsung HDD
  • 760
  • CM 690ii

-I'm deadset on getting this graphics card, mainly because I use shadowplay a lot and I want some extra juice.

-I want an SSD for my OS. I'm not sure if i should get 120 or 240 gigs (link)

-I defos want a new HDD. 1TB is fine because I have an external one for all my junk. I was thinking a WD black? (link)

-I really hate my case because it gets caked in dust all the time. Should I get some dust filters or just get a new one?

-Should I get a new CPU cooler. ATM I have some crappy arctic cooler (link)

-Finally, I need a new monitor. IPS/23-24" panel please (link)

Thanks.

Hi there UncleTone,

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card length of 312mm exceeds the Cooler Master CM 690 II (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case maximum of 304mm. If I were you, I'd get a new case. The CPU cooler that @mosin40 mentioned - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is a good bang for the buck. You might wanna take a look at it. 120GB of SSD should be enough for your OS and the programs you're using the most. If you tend to play a number of games with HD graphics, than I think the WD Black will suit you well. It is the one Western Digital recommends for gaming and for creative individuals http://www.wdc.com/de/products/products.aspx?id=760. In case you're not into heavy gaming, you could combine the SSD with the standard reliable WD Blue instead.

I hope this helps,

Titania_WD
