DSL Question?

I have DSL now its 7Mbps down and 1Mbps up. When someone uses the phone will it hurt my bandwidth? Randomly my network cuts out for a second sometimes.

usually ISP's give you little splitter that supposedly splits the internet from the phone to avoid interference. Although I have a splitter, I still get minor cut-outs when the phone initially rings

Pretty much this.

 

If you have Caller I.D. I normally have a phone sitting next to me while I am gaming and just answer/hang up quick so the connection doesn't drop.
