No Video

WhatARoaster

Ok, so there's this old computer in my house, it hasn't really been run for a while (4 years?).

It's got an Athlon 64, 1GB DDR, MSI MOBO, 500W PSU.
It also has an MSI ti4200-td8x GPU.

So the problem when i turn it on, i get the post beep, but i dont get any video out. Neither from the GPU or from the MOBO (w/o the GPU installed). I'm using a vga cable into a monitor, ive checked that the cable works with other devices.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

I'm just a soul who is up to no good.

Is there a jumper on the motherboard that allows you to do a force start? have you checked if it simply is the OS drive that has given up on life? or if it is the other components?

Try and get rid of any dust inside using compressed air can.

Try plugging in a DVI cable into it instead.

If there is another AGP slot to put your graphics card in, then try that.

Also try using a different PSU, i think newer PSUs are backwards compatible with older standards.

Take the RAM out, blow on the connections (nintendo style) and put them back in. =]

Take out CMOS battery, put it back in after 20 seconds or so.

My guess, is that over time the moisture in the air may have disconnected/damaged some connections or something.
