it is a worthy upgrade indeed but even an highly overclocked Q9650 won't play star citizen very well i'm sure...it will also bottleneck a R9 290 pretty bad in many (most) games...

you'd be better selling online your stuff and purchase more modern suff, here:

for that he'd need a ''K'' CPU...i'm assuming the OP is not shitting money so i went for something more budget oriented.

QX9650 at 4GHZ here....downloading star citizen as we speak. If you still want to go that route I'll have some results of how it plays in a bit. Running on 8 GB of Gskil ddr3, using a gigabyte 970.

would you please send me via PM a link where you are downloading the game i'd like to give it a try...and your rig is very unbalanced a gtx970 deserves at the very least a sandy bridge core i5 IMHO...you should monitor your gpu load while playing...
