Im in need of a windows xp home edition ISO file.

Gdog96

Hello everyone,

I have an old Dell Optiplex gx620 desktop computer that I want to restore back to factory settings however I dont have the dell restore disk, therefore I need to find an ISO file for windows xp home edition (I have the legit key thats on the sticker on the case so Im assuming this is legal).

I cannot find this file anywhere online, although I did find a service pack 3 disk image file direct from microsoft but Im not quite sure what to do with the files as there doesnt seem to be an ISO included.

If there is no way to get an ISO, can someone please tell me how I would be able to make a bootable USB/CD for xp home, as everything I have tried so far doesnt work, one of which was using wintoflash but that didnt work because, again, I couldnt find the ISO file.

If im going about this completely wrong then please let me know.

Thank you

I think you should at least put Vista on that. XP support died a long time ago.

Download from microsoft here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=25129 ***Not 100% sure if this is Home Edition*** this is pro edition

Download microsoft xp home edition from CNET here: http://download.cnet.com/topics/microsoft-windows-xp-home-edition no promises but only thing I could find

Make a bootable USB by using microsoft's tool here http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

USB tool works for any ISO, just branded as Win7

Thanks for all the replies already!

I just realised that although the sticker on the computer is an xp home key, the pc itself has xp professional SP3 installed. Does this mean I could use a xp professional SP3 ISO but use my home edition product key?

no, whats currently installed is probably cracked or was upgraded with a pro key a long time ago

darn, I used to have an official ISO but threw away everything XP when Microsoft ended the support for it.  Never thought I'd need it anymore.

You can get the XP Home OEM through channels we can not discuss here (a site with a logo similar to the corsair one, but including the hull and with a skull in the sails  ;)  ). Just looked for it and found plenty.

As long as you check it for virusses and have a legit key, you should be fine.

Alternatively, just get Win7.  XP is outdated and security is almost nonexistant now that support has ended.
