You had asked abou the 200R in your OP and yes it is shitty plastic, did a budget server build and threw it in one of those rather than like an antec 300, however feature wise for the price its hard to beat.

As far as quality goes the antec is junk I've had the pleasure of playing around with a couple. I think if you left it in your car on a hot summer day half the case would melt.

I have no idea about the thermaltake, this is a case I am literally just finding out about after I saw there white one they unveiled at computex.

As far as fractal goes, there cases are nearly unparalleled in quality + design (If Silverstone and Lian Li would get there shit together I have no doubt they could make something on par though)

Mesh in the front of cases wouldn't be so bad if they would ditch the damn 5.25 bays and make it seemless, maybe even support 120/140x3 (WHAT A CONCEPT) lol

The antec is bad? On linus's unboxing it looked pretty good! :P

I just saw a user review abit further down on this thread on the thermaltake, and they say its pretty shitty quality, so I'v lost hope for that one...

The only problem I have with the design r4 is the white drive trays/slot covers... As I'm going with a gigabyte board and 670, I chose a blue/black theme, so white just wouldnt fit it :(

Intel i7 3770k @ 4.5GHz, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H, Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB Windforce, 16GB G.Skill - NT 1600MHz, 250GB Samsung Evo SSD, 2x 1TB Seagate HDD, Corsair H100i CPU cooler w/Noctua Fans, 4x SP120, Fractal Design Define R4, LG W224T, Func MS-3, Apple Numeric Keyboard

Drive trays would be super easy to paint, and pci-e covers I'm pretty sure are pretty standard, Don't imagine they would be to hard to either paint or replace.

And it's not that the antec is necessarily bad but it sure is a shiz ton of plastic.

And they are white, so it would be pretty easy to go blue with them since they are basically already primered.

Main Rig: i5 760 @ 4.0GHZ Asus p7p55d-e, 8GB Corsair Vengance @ 1600 Mhz. Samsung BX2231 X 3 (5760x1080)

Haha woop plastic ftw ;)

Yeah the r4 is a beautiful case aswell...

How would one go about getting a nice paint finish on the metal do you think? Plus I can just buy a window for it for an extra $35 :D

Try going for a Thermaltake Urban S31 or a Corsair Obsidian 350D if you are looking for a mATX case?

Light wet sand and spray paint that is for metal surfaces.

Yeah personally I'm also looking for a more clean, yet modern looking case and the only ones that I like are the Fractal Design cases and the Bitfenix Shinobi. The R4 is probably a good choice and I've heard so much good stuff about it!

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?
