Hey all,

I think this is like the third topic I've started about this, but I'm STILL not decided. So here's the deal. I have a z87 g45 mobo - so that mean two way SLI or three way cfx. Money is not a problem, but I'm a gamer and I want the best thing I can get that will last me the longest time. I am currently thinking either 3 290x's, btw NO LIQUID COOLING, sorry enthousiasts! Anyways that or the titan z, or the 295x2 (but that's pretty much out of the question, since it's liquid cooled). Another option is two way 780ti's or 980s, but that wouldn't be as powerful as 3 290x's. My power limit is AT MOST 1200 watts for total system. Other specs are i7 4770k, 16gb 2400mhz ram, and that's pretty much it, with a 7950 GPU right now. I was also thinking maybe waiting for a GTX 990? I don't know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

First of all, I'm not really expecting much of an answer, but why are you saying no to a 295X2? What part of the AIO do you refuse to accept?

OT: In terms of performance:

1) 3-way 290X

2) 2-way 980 (Best choice)

3) R9 295X2

4) 2-way 780

However, I'd rather wait for the release of the 980ti and the 390X to see how they stack up.

The only reason I don't like the 295x2 is because I do not want to deal with any liquid cooling. Otherwise also it has less cores than 3 290x's

To be perfectly honest, an AIO on the GPU is not that much harder to maintain than a regular card. Just make sure that if the fan is pulling air in, that fan mount has a dust filter.

I would still just rather not have water in my case at all ever, sorry. Call me paranoid! Haha! Hence the Titan z, because it is not liquid cooled.

I can understand. However, if I am to presume that you did not make an error during your reply, the titan-z is NOT watercooled. Also, I would not recommend this for gaming as it's pretty much a workstation card. (Nvidia dun goofed with the marketing). My choice from your options would be the dual 980s if you require the parts urgently. If time is not that much of an issue, wait for the 980ti and the 390X.

Yeah my bad haha, fixed the mistake. And yeah it is a workstation card but it performs pretty well. Why not go with the triple 290x's though? And what about the 990 maybe?

HEAT. Those 290Xs are notorious for kick out a butt-tonne of it. And unless your case has amazing airflow, you will be restricting performance. As for the 990, I'd doubt that it'll be released this quarter and probably the next. So as I said before, if time isn't much of a concern, you can do as you please.
