7970 for overclocking

MJOLNITR VIPER

I am looking for a 7970 that has great overclocking capability as well as overvolting on a stock PCB because I am planning on water cooling it so it needs to be compatible with most 7970 water blocks.

Chances are that the one that has great overclocking capabilities are the ones that non-reference pcb. It's all really luck if get a good gpu chip that can overclock well.

If I'm not mistaken, the HD 7970 Lightning would be the best option for watercooling with overclocking -- it's the fastest reference-sized 7970, so it stands to reason that it would fit most waterblocks and would overclock quite nicely!

Have a look at that, if you want. And this.

I would love to do the lightning card but the biggest problem with the block is the look of it. My system is already set up with a black and red theme and the silver of that block just would not work in my system. I also just found this block http://www.swiftech.com/komodo-hd7900.aspx#tab3

Seems fair enough, just make sure the number of rear brackets on the card fits with the waterblock (not sure if this would matter? Sorry)
