Pci e 2.0 Vs 3.0

Hey I wanted to know if there is a big difference between pci express 2.0, and 3.0?  I also wanted to know if the GPU will be seriously downgraded if you put a 3.0 graphics card in a 2.0 slot?

The difference is 3.0 has double the bandwidth of 2.0, there aren't any single GPU cards out today that will suffer in a 16x 2.0 slot and even in 8x 2.0 the difference is measurable but not notable.

If it's 2.0 X16 then it won't bottleneck any single GPU currently

3.0 is twice as fast as 2.0.

 

In other words, PCIE 3.0 at x8 speeds is the same as PCIE 2.0 at x16 speeds.

 

That being said, even running two cards in two PCIE 2.0 x16 slots in crossfire/SLI will not cause a bottleneck, so it's really a non-issue.

I'm still using double 16x slots on 2.0.

I still <3 my Rampage III Extreme.

Is my 4.4 Ghz I7 980 a bottleneck??? Erm, no.
