Dual display issue

Go to solution Solved by gozzygozborn,

Asus rampage gene III

open asus ai suite, close it then restart.

So I recently added a second monitor into the mix. I did a dumb thing... they have different refresh rate. and different resolutions. and i'm an idiot (I know), but im having only one issue. I got both refresh rates working fine (its a little jarring, but I got used to it pretty fast.) and the res difference was easy to set up logically. BUT there's this stupid black bar on the smaller left monitor that ONLY stays on the desktop. If I fullscreen anything it doesn't show. So it really doesn't inhibit any usability, but its annoying. anyone know a fix or had this issue?

Not sure, it might have to do with your in-monitor menu settings, if you didn't mess with them anyway perhaps try to reset them.

Otherwise I'd have no clue what would put that there, if you try to put notepad over it, does it go behind the block or what?

Incase yes, I'd vote for in-monitor, not your windows messing with you.

The bar is ONLY persistent on the desktop. I can put anything over it and it goes away. Except for shortcuts. I cant drag a shortcut over it without the shortcut disappearing.

If it helps anything the bar is locked in the same spot and orientation regardless of which way my screen is orientated (invert/portrait). It also has two small dark grey arrows on the bottom right of the black box.

im not exactly sure what you mean by this. if you turn the monitor into portrait mode does the black box move into a vertical position or does it stay horizontal?

it moves into a vertical position in the "same" spot.

You sure it's not a widget that you accidentily allowed?

Widget as in desktop-widgets.

I checked widgets... it doesnt appear to be one.
