So it looks like my motherboard battery is dying. So after doing some research it looks like the standard motherboard battery is a CR2032. So I went to Radioshack and picked one up. Swapped the battery on the motherboard and the computer wouldn't post. Would just get stuck in a boot loop. So I took out the new battery and put in the old battery. Of course after doing that it booted. Inspected the battery closer and it says DL2032.

So my question is, does my motherboard use different batteries? Or is DL2032 the actual standard?

Did you bought with the code, or you showed him the battery?! Just go show him the battery tell your mobo and it should be ok, But then makes no sense, i used to swap batteries from rly old mobo such as pentium 4 to an amd fx and had no problems..

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

The letters don't matter as long as the numbers are the same. As long as it's 2032 it's a standard size CMOS battery.

Ok so internet is back. Thanks for that help.

Anyway, what do I do about the battery problem? I'm looking right at the packaging and it says CR 2032. I dont understand why the computer won't post with the new battery? The battery I'm using now is taken from an older computer.

Buy a new one.  Chances are it is just a bad battery of some sort.  See if the store will take it back.  If not you are out a few bucks.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

I'll do that, just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. Even though I've swapped CMOS batteries before without any issues. Would a bad battery really cause problems with it booting?

It could be anything from causing a short somehow to who knows what.   We all know how finicky computers can be at times.   I had one USB cable that would cause the computer to crawl to a near stop when plugged in.

Well I went back to Radioshack and they tested the battery it was working fine. Picked up a Duracell 2032 on the way home. Hopefully that works. Still wondering why the Radioshack 2032 wasn't working and why it would cause a boot loop even though it was working fine.
