Okay, so every now and then my computer crashes, like twice a month maybe? so i normally ignore it because its not BSOD or anything and its probably fine, it runs okay under full load so.... anyway, in the past hour it has crashed twice, totally locked up.... i was only web browsing on youtube with about 7 tabs open on chrome and maybe about 5 programs open elsewhere, which if you look at my specs is nothing.... any ideas as to why it randomly crashes?

How the fuck are suppose to know when you don't provide any information at all, no errors, no dumfiles, no pics nothing. There are a million things that could cause a crash. Common sense people.

there is no errors or anything.

Walk me through what happens when it crashes. I.E. Does the screen freeze, does audio stutter, etc.

Well, im normally listening to Spotify, screen freezes, audio stops, and it all locks up, so i just have to boot it off with the power button then start it back up and its totally fine again, as i said this doesn't happen often at all but it confuses me. i normally use this computer daily for longer than i should do but im not normally doing HEAVY things on it, only web browsing and not very graphical games until i get a monitor at christmas.

Run malware and virus scan.

Okay, its doing a scan now but off the bat it has this warning, i've now eliminated it after it didn't do anything, i'll see if this affects anything, but its hard to see as it only rarely crashes.721ecdf400.png

I'd try checking all the RAM sticks one at a time to make sure none of them are the problem, if the virus scan didn't help that is.

I did think that but at one point it didn't crash for about 6 months.....so i guessed it isn't the RAM.

This is already a good thing, it finds something fast, meaning ther migt be more, and therefore you might have malware(s) and/or virus(es) on your computer, I had the same kind of issues at one point, and I indeed had multiple unwanted pieces of software on my computer.

If the scan doesn't help, or even if you don't think it's gonna help, maybe run CCleaner to make sure you don't have too much stuff making your PC run slow and/or crash.

its 15% through the scan now. i'd be pretty annoyed if its the RAM as it originally had 16Gb of RAM, until start of July, my Dad bought me another 16Gb of RAM for my birthday (he built the system for me for christmas back in 2013, check my age if you wonder why lol)

I did have problems with RAM last month, but it gave me the good ol' BSOD with two different codes 1E and 4A So I don't think his problem could be related to RAM, but checking sure as hell doesn't hurt.

That's nice of him. My dad sees almost everything computer related as a waste, but he changes his attitude when he needs my help with something involving a computer, haha.

Haha. i know the PC does need a bit of a dust clean out which im hoping to do soon,(and replace thermal paste) i just dont trust my self doing it. I know how, but i will feel quilty if i break something (not that i can break something while cleaning dust) but i'd rather let my dad do it. lol

I've had my new computer for two months now and have never seen any dust in it, I recently opened it up to change the fan orientation and was met with dust lining every crack on the case, hardly anything on the components, though. Gonna clean it either later today or near the end of the week. I too should change out the thermal paste on my CPU, but I'm not gonna bother until I get an after market cooler.

Why not make a point of cleaning it this week? Ask your dad to watch you if you're worried  (Just to make sure you don't do anything wrong) which there really isn't much that can go wrong when cleaning a computer. Unless you use pressure washer, that doesn't work too well I find... I love building/cleaning computers, I'm just really lazy when it comes to cleaning my own, lol.

When you uninstall things some of the DLL's still stick in registry. Running Memtest with four sticks is time consuming because you could have all four sticks installed and no errors may not pop up. Testing them individually is a pain in the ___ If it started freezing when you installed the new kit then that's your issue. 32GB is a boat load, you'd be fine with 16.
