Hello

I have recently bought a new computer and was setting it up to find that one of my hard drives wasn't working, now I have contacted the store I bought it from and they have no idea what going on and I have also googled it and there isn't any relavant information on this issue.

The issue is I'm unable to see the Hard drive at my computer screens, now I thought it would be as simple as formatting it like I usually do however that's not the case I went into disk management and the system format for this Hardrive is CDFS which I googled and its a DVDS format which I have no idea how the hardrive got like that in the first place but anyway, I have tried deleting it but it says I'm unable to and I have also tried many commands on CMD and it hasn't worked.

If possible I would like to skype someone to get this issue resolved.

I am running windows 7 as a operating system

This is a weird one indeed.

Have you tried formatting it on another computer? It might just be your Windows install that is acting up.

When you say you have tried through CMD, do you mean Diskpart?

If the HDD arrived like this, then you should be able to RMA it. It might be a mistake form the factory.

the issue is this is the only computer in my house besides ipads, as i said in the thread is someone able to use teamviewer or skype and help me out as im completely stuck and dont wanna pay another $100 for the techs to fix this issue.

First of all, remember to quote the person you want to talk to. That way they'll get a notification, and you'll get a faster response.

Unfortunatly I am not able to use Skype, as I am at work at the moment, and I won't be home for 5+ hours.

Can you use a friends computer possibly?

Since you didn't asnwer my question about Diskpart, here is a giude on how to use it:

If the drive arrived like this, you shouldn't pay a tech $100+ for fixing it. You should RMA it.

I had this same problem when I tried to format the hard drive that came with a HP computer my son bought.  We upgraded his hard drive for Christmas and we were going to use the original for storage but it says you do not have permission to do this.  We had to put it in my computer to format it and it worked fine after that.  I think they do this to protect the end user and keep them from loosing the restore image stored on the drive.  Let me know if this is what you are trying to do.  I don't care a bit to Skype with you if it helps.
