GMOD And Other Games "Missing Map "insertmapname" Disconnecting?

Hello LTT world!

I have recently been having problems with my Garrys Mod and CSS/GO where when I try to join a server with a map i dont have yet, right when it starts downloading the map, a in-game dialogue pops up telling me "Missing map "blahblah" Disconnecting"

As you would imagine, this is veeery annoying and I cannot join any servers unless I manage to download on the workshop, or download it on the web and manually place it in my maps folder; again very annoying. I find this really annoying because I join a lot of servers who change the maps constantly....

I am running Windows 10 TP, it worked with the TP but stopped a few days after. This is a problem on multiple source games like CS GO community servers.

I have only tested on those few games but it is bugging me. I have tried so much but nothing, even reinstalling the games and deleting the folders... so as you can tell, I need some help.

If you need any information at all, please ask for it in the comments!!!

Thanks!

in the settings do you have "allow server content" (or something like that) checked?

also, TPs alphas, and even betas shouldnt really be used as dailey drivers/gaming OSes :P

Yes it is checked.

But I know what you are saying, I tried to dual boot but it failed me, so im stuck with Windows 10, I might get 8.1 Pro back though, if i reeaaallyy need to get it. But I am confused that both games all of a sudden stopped, even though they worked before with the preview.

Yes, in fact I just updated it again today.

And I honestly have no clue what happened to it, I followed directions, but it just installed 10 and got rid of 8.1 :(

uninstall all updates to the point of where the games were still working

as for the dual boot, the win10 propbably just wrote over the win8 boot manager, making it not appear as installed. do you still have it installed? if you do in the start bars search type "msconfig" under the boot tab see if it lists 2 OSes

and grats :D

If you go to your update history you can sort the updates by when they were installed and uninstall them. control panel>system and security>windows update> on the left panel click "view update history"

as for msconfig see if you have to OSes listed or just the tech preview

did you overwrite the win8 install? if you have a win7 repair cd you might be able to run it and choose "fix startup problems" and it may allow you back into win8 and win10

you could try that, but really if thats so much effort maybe you should just go back to win 7/8 :P
