Can't open task manager

Go to solution Solved by anders_b,

download the copy of taskmgr.exe https://www.dropbox.com/s/5si1gzm4po7xdji/Taskmgr.exe?dl=0

put it in C:\Windows\System32

and try

(make a backup of the original and ONLY do at own risk)

ctrl alt delete then clicking taskmanager does nothing. Brings me to my desktop.

ctrl shift escape does nothing, the blue circle spins for half a second and then nothing happens.

If I type in task manager into start and then click it nothing happens.

Not sure what I should do about this?

Running a scannow sfc I get this message

"Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log.

Have you tried right-clicking the task bar and selecting task manager from there?

I get

"windows cannot find C:\WINDOWS]system32\taskmgr.exe

Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again"

When I do that.

I would try some of the suggestions on DLing it and moving it to the correct folder, seem like the best bet.

This fixed it thanks!. There was no original to backup. Literally did not have a copy of taskmgr in my system32 for some reason. How this happened is beyond me.
