Quantum Computing; Are We interested?

As I sit here doing my homework I was theorizing on the future of quantum computing and what kinds of applications it could be using for in the consumer / enthusiast market and how it could be implemented.

I know right now they take extreme cooling solutions to even run but I wouldn't think it would be to long before a higher end water cooler could meet the thermal requirements for a small chip.

If so how would they be implemented and for what could be use them for outside of complex math and physics problems?

Truthfully I'd like to se a PCIe add on processor that could act like those old dedicated PhysX cards.  Then they could be run within our current OS's because I don't see Microsoft releasing 'Windows Qu' any time soon.  Also it could be run in parallel with a high end GPU to do things like compute both of the next posable frames and then supply whichever one is needed based on user input.  I also see the nature of a quantum computer being great for things like full scene light ray tracing and some sort of anti-aliasing that hasn't even been created yet.

Thoughts, ideas, am I just crazy?
