Which 970 to choose?

Go to solution Solved by UltraNeonGaming,

I am going to upgrade my old 270x to a gtx 970,However i cant deside between Asus or Evga.In my county they have exactly the same price.Which one do you recommed and if you have a better suggestion please let me know. Thanks for you time

And also EVGA used the cooler from their 760 on the their 970 to save costs, and made it so that all the heat pipes don't touch the core, temps aren't much different for some but for other they are wayyyyyyyyy worse, So I'm going with the Asus one. :D

Also their 760 from last year had the same problem :(

And also the Asus one is wayyy quieter because of better cooling performance from all heat pipes touching the core and because they made it so the fan doesn't spin up until the GPU gets 65c hot.

I would go for the Asus one too, because the fans will start spinning if the core reaches a specific temperature. (which I think you can edit too)

EVGA one does that as well

And also EVGA used the cooler from their 760 on the their 970 to save costs, and made it so that all the heat pipes don't touch the core, temps aren't much different for some but for other they are wayyyyyyyyy worse, So I'm going with the Asus one. :D

The difference between it and other cards is still all within margin of error. This was a severely over-exaggerated issue. The heatpipe that isn't touching the core can still transfer heat, due to it being in contact with the other heatpipes

OP get whichever you think looks better to be honest. Performance, temperature etc. is going to be fairly similar between cards. I'd lean towards EVGA because of customer support, but that's just me

Yes, all of what you said is true. But however, I think this whole issue was a bit over "hyped", because while it does make a difference, it's not different enough to justify, let's say a 100 dollar difference or EVGA's legendary customer support.

This actually reminds me of one of I/O's threads that was "supposed" to discuss this exact same issue but turned into a flame war with people calling names, some respectable people getting banned (maybe), and things that were completely unrelated to the topic being said all over the place, and it was locked in the end.  Hopefully your comment won't turn into another one of those, and it's actually quite nice to see a comment regarding the 970 acx issue without saying "evga sux they have crap quality stuff nobody should buy them they make so many mistakes all their cards are terrible"

Yep true, there are many stories as I said of people saying there is no difference to people saying there is a massive temp hit

EVGA is pretty much nVidia's flagship company for selling GPU's just like Sapphire is AMD's
