Mouse cursor shakes?

SeanAngelo

So, my problem is, whenever i move my cursor it "shakes" like it's cold or something (if you know what i mean) and it's really annoying especially when i'm playing Battlefield 3.

My mouse is a Logitech G500.

I've uninstalled the mouse and re-installed it but it doesn't help. I updated the Logitech Gaming Software to the latest version and it didn't help. Moved to different USB ports, doesn't seem to help. Right now it's connected to my Corsair K70 USB pass through to see if that helps, doesn't help at all.

I've turned off enhance pointer precision in control panel.

Does anyone know the problem here and try to help?

Clean the sensor, most likely some dust in there. Or try a different surface. Or try lowering the DPI if it's at max or close to it.

does that involve me taking apart the mouse and cleaning inside? It's at 2500 DPI, and it's been on the same surface for over a year and never had the problem till now. laser's are so sensitive :o

Not necessary, just try blowing at the sensor hole (hehe) or using microfibre cloth or something.

Small twitching, or shivering as you described it, is usually because of dirt in sensor. If it moves up and down with bit wider movement, then it could be bug with GPU drivers. But that is problem only while on desktop since I've had it once and didn't have any effect on gaming.

blown the sensor a lot of times, it still "shivers"

should i rollback to the previous driver?

Try with cotton stick (don't know what they are called in english), soft paper towel or microfiber cloth. Like said, driver errors aren't usually shown in games.

I have had problems like that when the surface im using the mouse on causes problems where the sensor cant read clearly. Try it on a peice of printer paper and see if it still does it.

Only other time I have had that is with 2 mice hooked up and the second one is messing it up.

even when i take the mat off, and have the desk as the surface, it still shakes.

What about polling rate? Have you tried different settings?

Ok... I'm out of ideas at this point. It could be faulty sensor but thats almost impossible to say without testing in another machine.

  • 4 years later...

Hello, anyone who has this problem, try my solution:

a staw! try blow to sensor with a straw (the one you use with cold drinks)

of course we have to make it  as less moisure as possible, but anyways it solved my trembling cursor ^^
