Hi everyone!

I have a uick question about tweaking ram timings: I managed to get my kit to 1866mhz with timings 9-10-10-24. I have tested 9-9-9-24 but it isn't stable. Now I'd like to see if I can go to 9 with one of the remaining timings set to 10. Which one is more likely to be stable?

Also, should I try to tweak the last number? I'm not 100% sure what it does so I didn't really want to touch it before asking here...

Thanks!

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Usually they change RAS Precharge too... (9-10-9-24) but you didn't provide the model

also why you want to do that?

They are kingston hyperx blue 2gb sticks. The reason I want to do it is pretty much because I can ^^ I'm a fan of getting the most out of my hardware as long as it's stable :) I don't expect  big performance difference but still.

Hyperx blu... then I've no idea what default timings are for them xD

Anyway if you've set Command Rate when you where trying 9-9-9-24 at 1 clock, try increasing to 2, might help you to make it more stable ;)

The default was 9-9-9-24 @ 1600mhz

does increasing command rate reduce performance?

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

is there a downside to tightening timings on ram kits? I have a 2x4gb AMD R9 Gamer 2400mhz kit with default timings of 11-12-12-31@1,65V but got it to pass 5h of memtest at 10-11-9-25@1.5V. Normally i just leave rams on default but since the A10-7800 only supports up to 2133 and the ram's XMP and AMP profiles are 2400mhz, trying to find the best settings for 2133. The 2133mhz version of the R9 Gamer memory has a default timing of 10-11-11-30@1.65V so its cool i can get mine to run at much lower timing, just not sure if there is a downside to it.
