Hey folks,

so I recently got a new rig ( specs can be found at the bottom ) and I'm not quite sure what display to go with, I wanna be running 3 displays, however gaming at 1 only, the other 2 are mostly for work. I assume those 2 side displays are not really costly to the graphics card as all I'll be running on them while gaming is stuff like media player, irc, web browser, file explorer... and as those I wanna get 2 27" 1080p 60hz pieces ( not sure about the manufacturer/model yet ) as anything above is a waste for the purpose.

What I'm really undecided about tho, is the main display as I'm not sure how much my rig can handle and if it's better to go with higher resolution, higher refresh rate or more pumped up details in the games. Anyways, I'm considering couple things and not really sure what the best combination is.

1) Resolution
So I'm thinking either 1080 or 1440. I've seen 4k and on a small screen I didnt really like it thus 1440 is the limit for me.

2) Refresh rate
Well, there's pretty much just 60 or 130ish ( anywhere between 120 and 144 ).

So basically what I'm asking is whether you can tell the difference between 1080/1440 on 27" and whether or not 60 vs 100+ refresh rate does make a noticable difference ( which I assume both answers are yes ), however, what I'm not really sure about is whether I should go with the higher resolution or refresh rate as I'm 100% positive my rig is not able to run 1440p above 60hz with max in-game settings anyway and I don't really wanna be wasting money here.

TL;DR

What kind of display should I buy to get the best gaming experience with my current rig?

Also if it had a huge impact, I could get a second GPU later on to run in SLI.

Rig specs
CPU: i7 4790k cooled by corsair h110
GPU: MSI gtx 780
Mobo: Asus maximus vi hero
Ram: 16gb 2,4ghz cl11
SSD: samsung pro 850 512gb

I would get a 1440p 120/144Hz panel if you will go SLI 780/970 or single 980 if you want to go high frame rate with high resolution.

You also could go dual-monitor 1080p IPS altough I wouldn't do such thing myself.

Aanddd you could go 1440p IPS 60Hz if you really care about color-accuracy related things.

Would I need to lower game settings to run 1440p at higher refresh rate and if so, is it worth it? Also I dont care about color-accuracy
