Who thinks that using spam bots like this actually profit them? Really? This is retarded. A whole page. Can someone tell me the logic behind this? Or what they are even advertising? All the same number, and random titles.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I think I do. I remember a few cases. It's not about the posts to me, the mods eventually nuke all of them at once, it's that time between when potential new community members come in and see a whole page of spam, it really misrepresents the community.

Another one of these happened a couple months ago and while they can be annoying the moderators are excellent and always take them down in a timely manner!:)

Captcha on signup is enough... Also maybe some spamming detection? If a user creates threads within 2 minutes of each other, a cooldown will be imposed... Not sure if IPB supports this though...

Rather than frequency, I think interval is more appropriate...

 

It would be strange for someone to post stuff within 3 seconds of an earlier post... It's possible but it's suspicious...

Maybe it's just me, but as far as I'm concerned NO human could possibly discern those damn things.

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..

The point is it matches what you type against what others typed, not necessarily the answer. That's why sometimes you get them right but it says you failed. And that's how they do the street-view house number thing. Sure one person may get it wrong, but show it to 50 people, you'll have the answer for free. No amazon mech turk.

Depends on where the captcha comes from... I've seen some easy ones, and some hard ones... Humans will have an expected range of answers for something like that while a machine's answer can be way off...

there is one.. Problem is that a real person signs up then uses the spam bot

What should happen is when your get reported dozens of times within a few minutes your account gets suspended until a mod decides if your a spambot or not. That way we can stop a spambot before it gets 80+ topics

Depends on where the captcha comes from... I've seen some easy ones, and some hard ones... Humans will have an expected range of answers for something like that while a machine's answer can be way off...

Good idea, that could also stop people who post multiple questions.
