I just reinstalled my OS today and my computer is running just as I want it with all my software installed, and I was wondering is there anyway I can back it up so that if I had to restore it I could just boot from a disk or USB hard drive to restore it all?  or even create a recovery partition as a new pc would come with so it made reinstalling if I need to become easier

I really like Acronis True Image Home to clone to another harddrive. They used to have their previous version for free. I will post a link if they still do.

edit: they don't offer this anymore, I think the last time they did was for true image home 10 (which is the one I have) but apparently some website wrote an article about it, and I guess people were taking advantage of such a generous offering (I was in the know from using their products at work) and they took it down. Poops. There are open source alternatives out there if you don't want to pay for it, but looking at the features of their newer software, it might be worth it if you have more than one harddrive to clone

I always guarantee that no more than 50% of what I say is useful.
