My Desktop screen got replaced

So while I was browsing to a folder where I wanted to dump some files from an email, I clicked New Folder and next thing I know I'm at a new desktop. 

As per attached image I ended up with two Desktop folders under my User Acc.

I would like my old desktop back but for the life of me I can't figure out how to switch to it.

I tried Sys Restore but it's corrupt so that's out.

Copy all the files from the one that you want to the one currently in use.

Delete older folder. Done

Not on propose if I did.

I'm wondering if I had "Desktop" Highlighted when I clicked create New Folder?

I know I can just copy/paste all but ever since I have new Desktop it feels more sluggish.

Wait somethings wrong, you cant possibly have two folders with the same name in the same directory, one has to be a shortcut.
