Hi,

I'm inquiring about this update tool. I'm a newbie. is it reliable?

I attached a screen shot of it.

msi live update 6.jpg

Reliable for what? It downloads and installs updates. It has always worked for me. I dont use half the crap though.
You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

Bloatware in my opinion. Just go to their website and download them manually.

I actually bricked my Mobo from trying to update bios through USB. MSI told me to use the live update instead. That goes against everything i have ever known but i have successfully updated my bios the last 3 times with out a problem. It double checks everything before it uploads and erases the old bios and boot block.

It's not bad or anything, but you can achieve the same thing manually without having this program if you're into keeping your pc as lean (besides games) as possible.

from what ive heard, its ok for updating your chipset drivers, but NEVER use it to update bios.

id also skip all the MSI stuff, just self advertising for their products.

I've used it succesfully to update BIOS. Not really any different from USB/floppy style. You can do same mistakes with both. Like resetting/booting in middle of process.

I agree on skipping all MSI stuff. You won't be needing none of those. Only drivers.
