Max Reasonable 4690k Temps

Personal preference really, the CPU will shut itself down if it reaches a critical temp. I obey my 85C rule unless I'm feeling particularly crazy about hitting a cinebench score.

Last 4690k had it maxing at 83C under AIDA64 @1.29v

80c max is my comfort zone.

85° under synthetic stress testing (in manual voltage mode) as normal real-world

usage will not lean on the CPU like the synthetic tests do. so striving for maximum

overclock to say 85° (in manual voltage mode) and then when stable, revert to

adaptive voltage mode and your temps for normal use will be very conservative.

 

this would be for advanced cooling methods than just the stock CPU cooler.
