So, i'm currently in the process of finalizing and ordering all the parts for a new build. It's going to be a Z97 Based build with an i7-4790K and a GTX 970 (one for now, but probably 2 later). I have a few pretty specific questions regarding the build.

Link to the full build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Zh9rwP

-I'm using an NZXT H440 Case, I really like NZXT products, and i've heard good things about it, but I don't have any experience with building a "quiet" builld. My question is regarding the fans, i've been researching Airfow vs. Static pressure fans (namely the corsair SP and AF series fans), and from what I can tell, given that the H440 has fairly restricted airflow at the front, I'd want to get Static pressure fans, however, i'm not really sure.

-Also, will "quiet" vs "high performance" (which AFAIK is just a stock RPM difference) matter in a sound dampened case like the H440, will the sound dampening material negate the difference in noise between the two, or should I go with the quiet series for basically absolute silence?

-Regarding the RAM and motherboard, I'm planning to pull 8GB of G.Skill Sniper F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR memory out of my old build to put in this one. When I checked some of the reviews on newegg for the ASUS Maximus VII Hero board that i'm using, someone stated that memory modules that are not specifically supported on the board's documentation are not compatible, this was confirmed by an ASUS rep. I checked the documentation, and the memory model that was tested compatible was the F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2 (difference being the 2 at the end). Does anyone with more extensive knowledge of naming and model conventions for memory have any idea if this will matter? Will I need to buy different memory, or can I go ahead and get a second kit? (here's the ASUS memory compatibility list:http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/MAXIMUS-VII...)

Any help with any or all of these questions would be very much appreciated.

for the front intake, SP fans would work better at drawing air in.

if silence is a big factor, get the silence ones, but if you could deal with them a bit louder the proformance ones would be better.

your ram is compatible.

edit:

-id recommend one 2tb drive instead of 2 1tb. unless you plan to raid them.

-h100i comes with thermal compound, so unless you specifically want to replace it you can dump the compound

actually, some of this stuff is just stuff I have laying around. I already had a 1TB WD black from a previous build, as well as one of the RAM kits and the thermal paste, it's kinda on there for personal reference, so feel free to disregard those bits.

Thanks for the help though.

as far as quiet builds go, i know you mentioned nzxt but the fractal design r4 is really quiet (my friend has one, i built his with him)

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/fractal-design-case-fdcadefr4bl

also if you're interested in watercooling your system, consider a swiftech h220x

i would also consider some phanteks fans, from what ive come to understand they don't make much noise either.

this is a build i'm doing for someone who wanted a quiet performance computer because they're a sound professional :  http://pcpartpicker.com/user/sailtacks/saved/wnP8TW

sorry if i wasnt able to help much, im not the most knowlegable person.
