New Motherboard

Go to solution Solved by SuperPug,

I have a 4690k Devil's Canyon

I know. And it wont work natively on H81, B85, H87, Z87. Unless you can flash the bios on the Asus H81M-C without having a CPU in the board don't buy it because it will be useless.

So my 1 week motherboard (MSI z97i Gaming AC)  died, and I am looking a for a cheap replacement till the RMA is completed and also to check if the mobo fried any other components with it.

Thread here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/227901-pc-wont-power-up-with-the-8pin-cpu-power-connector/

I have found the Asus H81M-C for around 55 euros (which is the cheapest locally that i can get my hands on asap and also my utmost budget range)

I just want to make sure my 4690k will work normaly (Without OC ofcourse since its a H81 chipset) and what happens with my ram which are 2400Mhz (Corsair Vengeance Pro)

Also i dont have a case to fit anything else than mITX (and those start from over 120 euro here which is out of budget range) would be ok if I make a cardboad case to let the system sit there till the new replacement mobo arrives?

//Case: Phanteks 400 TGE //Mobo: Asus x470-F Strix //CPU: R5 2600X //CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 //RAM: G-Skill RGB 3200mhz //HDD: WD Caviar Black 1tb //SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 250Gb //GPU: GTX 1050 Ti //PSU: Seasonic MII EVO m2 520W

No it wont work... it needs a bios update to work so unless you have a last gen Haswell that you can put in there to update the bios dont buy it.

Yes you can run a pc without a case just make sure not to spill anything on it.
