s5000 VSA

Go to solution Solved by Flight1sim,

there are a ton of dimm slots and I cant find a manual that tells me the order in which to install them

just insert from left to right...

I recently was given this motherboard as a gift as well as both processors inside of it ( have no idea what they are because I haven't been able to boot it up yet) but I cant boot it because when I try it gives three beeps indicating a memory error of some kind. I can't find a guide anywhere saying what slots to populate first so I really need some help

looks like 771 to me, probably a pair of l5450s or e5450s, if you're lucky x5450s. probably needs ddr2-ecc, just populate 1 slot at a time until it works

the memory was on the board. this is second hand and was used simply as a media server for a few years (( yes I know its overkill for a media server don't ask)) but ever since I got it its had issues. i want to convert it into a MC hosting server but without working memory it will be tough. and there are 2 dimms of ram each 512 mb ( im going to upgrade to 4 gb total soon)

Did you change anything after receiving it?

grab 2x2gb ddr2-ecc? memory issue could just be the dimms dying.

I took the ram out not thinking and now I don know where to put it xD. and I'm not sure what your asking harrynowl

just reinstall the ram?

And @harrynowl means that you get 4Gb of DDR3 ECC memory because the current ram could be dying
