Hey guys im kinda new around here and im not sure if this is already answered but i built my computer in August and use it mostly for gaming.  As i have learned more about computers and stuff i have come to realize that i should have also gotten an SSD.  Now my question is, "can i add in an SSD as a new boot drive, fresh install windows on it, and still keep all my old data on my HDD?" The biggest concern for me is that all my desktop stuff wont remain and that my windows settings will all be reset.  If you guys can help inform me about SSD's and if this idea would even work since i already have my OS on my HDD and have been using it for almost 2 months.  If you guys could also help me find the right size SSD because i play games like BF4, League of Legends, PayDay 2, and will be getting borderlands The Pre-Sequel.  So any help is appreciated :)

My Computer:
Cpu: AMD Fx-8350 (4.2GHz)

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA
Ram: G-Skill 16 GB

Storage: 1TB Seagate barracuda 7200 RPM

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit

my budget is between 100-200 and i dont mind waiting for like a sale on Newegg or something.  So what are trustworthy brands? and i also heard that cloning the install can leave lots of problems

here you can buy almost two and raid 0 them http://pcpartpicker.com/part/a-data-internal-hard-drive-asp920ss3256gmc if you dont want to do tha then http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7pd256bw  this would be the fastest option

and another question, is the write speed all that important? cuz the crucial ones have about 530 mb/s sequential read but like 300 mb/s sequential write. So is it mostly the read speed that matters?

i would reccomend the previously posted and yes it does matter a lot so i would reccomed going with aspp920 or a sandisk extreme 2 or a samsung 840 pro they are all nice drives

For $200 you could get a crucial mx100 512gb. Very good value for a very good drive. :)

okay im looking at drives. and i like the options you have given, but as for the windows question, do i do a fresh install and it will pull all my important info off of my HDD after i boot from the SSD, turn it off, change boot drive to SSD, and then plug in HDD?

and which one is a better choice?
