Hello people of LTT Forums,

I think it's about time I trash this crappy HP keyboard. I was looking today at some keyboards, mainly that had CherryMX keys, although I hate the clicky noise. The only thing that I can't seem to find are gaming keyboards with flat keys. I grew up on a mac and always hated the blocky type keys. The keyboard I have right now has flat ones, and I like it. So the question is:

Can you guys find me a keyboard that is flat, and preferably has CherryMX keys? And, if you can, is it worth buying?

The mechanical of chiclet keys (nice travel distance, a tactile bump (ish) and awesome feel and I have the best accuracy with it)

Chiclet style keys can't be mechanical MX switches. It doesn't work that way.

But I personally like chiclet keys myself...I know kensingotn and Logitech have one, and was considering getting the Kensington one, but in the end opted for a cm quickfire rapid as I wanted TKL. I sometimes question my decision, since I find MX Reds/browns to be kinda noisy, especially when typing quickly.

Ok. Thanks guys. I'll probably just buy one of the CherryMX ones out there that arent "chiclet," then I'll just learn to deal with it.

Your best bet would be the Cherry G80-3800 or a G80-3850.

http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/keyboards/Office/G80_3850_MX/index.htm

They are really low profile for a MX board.

Cherry ML boards are alot of work. They are really scratchy unless you disassemble and lube every switch. Which is really tough. I did it once.

MK switches are alot nicer for sure.

Noisy Reds/Browns are indicative of bottoming out the keys with rather heavy-handed typing. I tend to do it, too. They actuate before they hit the bottom, though, so they don't have to be noisy.

Even if you don't bottom out, mechanical keys are quite noisy compared to chiclet keys.
