A couple of days ago i switch to Windows 8.1. All of a sudden i'm doing something and it just restarts. It happens once or twice during the day. It then wont see my hard drive and i have to hold the power button to turn it off and then it boots right into windows. This has never happened with Windows 7 at all. Did something happen when i went to install it? Should i reinstall windows 8.1 or go back to windows 7? I've tried to run the repair tool from the windows 8.1 disc and said it couldn't be repaired.

I've never had this problem before when using Windows 8.1. But on my old computer that used Windows 7 I've had this issue as well so I think it's not an OS problem. My best guess here is that your computer may not have enough ram to run Windows 8.1 so when it run out of ram it just restarted (since you said that your Windows 7 had no problem on the same computer, and Windows 7 uses less ram than Windows 8.1). So you either switch back to Windows 7, or upgrade your ram :D

Sorry if this doesn't solve your problem.
