First Custom Water Loop

Go to solution Solved by Shaqo_Wyn,

If I were to get a Swiftech H220-X, could I then replace the tubes with red 3/8 5/8 tubing?

Yep, it's an expandable AIO.

Hi,

I have decided to build my first EVER water loop, just starting with my CPU.

I have these parts and I was wondering if they would all work together/cool well/ need anything else/

Thanks

Are you going to be upgrading to GPU cooling? If not, Monsta 360mm is overkill.

Look good. One question.. where do you plan on putting a (if I assume correctly) a 360 Monsta in push/pull? Because it won't fit in the top. The 750D has 85mm clearance in the top, push/pull monsta = 130mm. Or are you modding the front to put it there?

If not, you will be fine with a 360 XT45 in the top in push or pull with those fans.

What about this rad -

Radiator:

AMOUNT:1 — Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 360mm

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_297_922&products_id=23504

Also, another question, how and where should i position/place my fans? What should I plug them into?

It would be a really tight fit with the 8-pin power on the motherboard. A 360 XT45 would more than enough for the CPU. I promise.

You could also give the Hardware Labs Black Ice GTX 360 a look, it's thick and high fpi but you have some good fans.

I recommend you put the fans in push on the bottom of the rad as an exhaust. You can daisy chain onto your CPU_Header and PWM control em simultaneously from there.

Ok, thanks.

One last thing. Would distilled water w/ a kill coil and some anti-corrosive be better or worse than a coolent?

Performance wise the difference would be negligible. You don't need an anti-corrosive unless you're planning on mixing aluminum with other metals in your loop.

It's up to you whether you want distilled water + a kill coil (less hassle, no chance of getting stained water blocks or gunk in your loop) or colored coolant.

If you do go for colored coolant, I recommend Mayhems X1 or Pastel.

I would rather not get risk getting gunk in my system, so I will probably just go with distilled water and a kill coil, because I am replacing it with red tubing.

Does the H220-X mix the metals in the system? Do I need anymore compression fittings to replace the tubes?
