Hi, I was looking at memory lately because I'm in the process of upgrading my PC. I don't know how much I would have to spend on memory so if anyone could help me out and find some or tell me how much would be my minimum price. I was hoping to get about 8GB if not more for a good price(if their worth the price). I have a Asus P8Z 68-V LX with a Intel I7 2600k CPU at 3.4 atm. I'm changing my GPU so I'm still in the process of getting one. One more question, for gaming if a DDR3 or a DDR4 is better. I think I would go for DDR3 because I would need a new motherboard.

Thanks in advance.

Get DDR3. The difference in performance between DDR3 and DDR4 in real life situations isn't really noticeable. Also, DDR4 is wayyyy more expensive than DDR3 atm. Unless you're willing to dish out a few hundred bucks just for RAM, don't get DDR4.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Is it better to go for speed or more memory then?

for pure gaming, max 16GB, @1866 CL9 is the sweetspot

Honestly, that CPU is still plenty powerful and can play any game you throw at it.  If you want more power, overclock it.

Gaming only needs DDR3, get 8GB of 1600Mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v.  RAM has minimal impact on performance.

Ram really doesn't matter much when gaming. That said, I would recommend 8GB minimum because I've had 4GB and I had terrible lag in Battlefield 4. Now I have 8GB and it works fine.

Note: Check what Ram speed your motherboard and CPU supports. Your CPU supports max. 1333MHz Ram clock so I woudn't buy something higher then that because it woudn't matter. (Source: Intel ARK)

I'm suprised how many people don't pay attention to that :D

And yes, DDR3.
