I didn't see a post for this. I know it is not an extreme overclock but I figured what the hell post a pic of your OC! Once I water cool and perform some surgery on my 3770k and replace the TIM I am going to shoot for over 5Ghz

Here's what I currently have my 3570k set up to run at, it's delidded (with CL Liquid Pro) and cooled with a Swiftech H220 with Noctua NF-F12 fans

How scary was it delidding  the cpu? I want to do mine but am hesitant to do so until the price of the 3770k drops. Also did it make a difference in temps for you, I have read in some places that the TIM issue is a myth of sorts?

I did the razor method before the new vice method became popular, it wasn't too nerve-wracking. As far as the difference, I'd was doing 4.4 Ghz with temps in the mid 70s, and as you can see in the screenshot I was able to get another 300 Mhz while still having better temps overall.

 

Also the issue as far as my understanding goes isn't too much the TIM, as it is the gap between the die and the IHS, while better TIM would make a difference, closing the gap is even more beneficial to heat transfer. If you do delid it is worth it to spend the extra and get some CL Liquid Pro or Ultra to put on the die. That liquid metal alloy does wonders.

4.7 on my 6300. not fantastic i know but my old 120mm AIO cant keep up atm lol. gunna hopefully get an H100i soon and push 5+ outa this sucker
