So the past few months, My computer has been starting up and going into the repair screen. It goes through the usual process to attempt to repair and restore to a previous date. But it did that maybe once in a blue moon. Now it seems like it's happening every other day. Does anyone know if it's a case of my hard drive dying due to age(3ish years), or maybe something else?

I do keep most of my data backed up on an external. But I don't keep the OS backed up. I plan to RAID it in the next few weeks. But I can do that sooner than later if it's suggested.

I'd had a old WD Black from 4.8 years ago, and it started to makes noises and loud noises but never foced to the repair screen but WD replaced it :D. If you do have to replace the drive I'd suggest WD as they have never Died on me.

In your case you could back up the data to the second hard drive then do a complete re-install of the computer's OS and that should fix any issues if it is Software base.

The hard drives do not make any noises that aren't out of the usual. No strange sounds or anything that I can hear.

How old are the drives?

Do they make any weird noises?

The OS drive is maybe 3 years old.

The second was purchased this year.

Try a fresh install... 3 years is nothing for HDDs...

I'd suggest ^this^... But check the SMART data with CrystalDiskInfo first...
