amd gpu crossfire

What new generation amd gpus don't need the crossfire bridge? i remember Linus saying something about it.

As far as I know, the R9 290 and 290x are the only ones that do not need one. The rest of teh r9 series are rebrands and thus need bridges.

there is a disclaimer also at the bottom saying this is reference models some manufactures do change this

Oh, hmm. I've got a Sapphire card, and it DID come with a crossfire bridge, so I'm assuming it's the same.

thanks guys, this is my first time going team red for gpus in a build.

Whatcha gonna get? I hope you don't mind the question....just being curious. Btw, I do believe the R9 285 series don't require a CF bridge as well.

AFAIK R9 290 / R9 290x do not have the bridge

Without the use of a bridge the PCIE speed requirement increases from pcie 2.0x4 to pcie 3.0x8 (2.0x16) - so be sure to check your motherboards actual PCIE speeds (and avoid bridgeless if your mother board sends the second slot over its chipset (pcie 2.0x4))
