windows 10 thoughts ?

New features :

hot key support in cmd (could already copy/paste)

4K scaling support (which 8.1 was meant to have)

4 corner snapping windows.

start menu with apps opening in a windows (new GUI)

intelligent input switching for new GUI (not working in tech preview)

Re-enabled feature (not new) where coding already existed in windows OS:

Virtual desktops

Shadow copy

Voice support/searching (ok so this time it will finally work)

No: New features:

-> 8K support

-> Snapping windows on 4 corners with added keyboard shortcuts

-> Virtual Desktop embedded

-> Cortana

-> Continuum

-> Windows Modern UI/Universal apps

-> Improved universal apps

-> Improved Alt+Tab

-> Ability to share files in File Explorer

-> Home screen on File Explorer

-> Scalable Start Menu

-> Modern UI apps next to start menu

-> Updated Start Menu to reflect right-click functionality matching the above point (ie: pin to start)

-> Ability to pin folders as tiles

-> Improved active window detection with deeper and larger shadows

-> They are reports that pen accuracy have been improved, but I have not tried it to confirm if it's any true.

-> Improved Windows update (will be in action when the next preview will be released, probably)

-> Command Prompt and Power Shell supports: easy Copy/Paste, text selection, window scaling to any size, auto wrap of window, and transparency window

-> Easy search button

That is currently what is being released on the preview. As Microsoft mentioned, these features will improve, and Enterprise and Consumer level features announcement will come later in the year and sometime next year.

And that is what is currently out.

Shadow copy is part of Windows XP and up.

Virtual Desktop was part of Windows NT4 APIs, and was always available since. XP had an add-on, but the lack of popularity made Microsoft not implement or even improve that add-on in Vista, and just dropped it. Microsoft is trying again with Windows 10, and it is, so far, improved over the XP add-on.

I can't snap the task manager...

strike one

Nor the registry editor.

How many strike will it make you stop using it? 'cause if it's 3, then I am sorry, you better uninstall it now

I found a long list of bugs within minutes of Windows 10. Yes, I posted them on the feedback program.

Oh no.  I'm going to use it.  There's really no way around it.

The snapping features and multi-desktop features need to get ironed out.  But once they do, it's just way better than my Linux alternatives.

Yes it is. You have the service, and you can always bring the system back in time it is in the recovery options.

Yes. Check your Services (Volume Shadow Copy). Check "Recovery" in the control panel, under Windows 8.
