Hi, I'm new to these forums and well I need a little bit of build help. So a couple of friends and I have been thinking about moving away from consoles. So we're building computers, I know a little bit about computers but not too much. So what we're aiming to do with these computers is to game and work on the side. my budget is  (USD) 1,200 my friends' budgets is (USD) 900-1,000. We don't need monitors but we do need a mouse, keyboard, and an OS. Thank you in advance, your help is much appreciated.

How much are you willing to spend on a keyboard and mouse? Also, do you know how to assemble a computer?

You and your friend can start out with a bases of this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/12cGX, and add a keyboard mouse and case all of which are personal preferences.  I picked the 7950 because it is a little cheaper right now than a 660ti and it includes 4 free games.  If you wont be overclocking switch theCPU out to a 3570(non K version)

I would base your build off of the CPU and Motherboard. Have a look at i5 4670k and a compatible motherboard. Asus motherboards are a good place to start. Once you have the total for these you then know what you can spend on the rest of  your build.

Corsair 300r Case with OCZ ZT 750W PSU | Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor | Asus P8Z77-V LGA1155 Motherboard | Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) | OCZ Vertex 4 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD | AMD Sapphire 7770 Vapor-X 1GB Video Card | 2 Acer S220HQL 22" monitors |
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit | CM Storm Quickfire TK Cherry MX Brown | Razer Deathadder 3500dpi

they are making a gaming build so I would say that the GPU is more important than the CPU in their case.

Then I would say go with an i5 3570K and base the rest of the build on the GPU. At that price range, tell them to look at 1GB - 2GB cards. There are so many decent ones out there.

In terms of what cables come with your PSU? All cables that you need will be with your PSU.(as long as you get the appropriate wattage PSU)

They are quite east to figure out. most of them are keyed so that you cant connect an 8 pin PCI into the 8 pin on the motherboard.  The 24 pin is obviously the biggest one and all the IO cables are labeled on the cables themselves as well as the motherboard.  The power and LED cables for the front panel might require some looking at the manual to figure out.

Alright thanks man. But For cases, I was kind of hoping in the future to set up a custom loop for the CPU and the graphics card. so I was kinda leaning towards the Switch 810. What do you think?

That would be a good case.  And when you start looking into the custom loop look into one of these
