I have an old system laying around doing nothing and just collecting dust, so i thought: maybe i can make some awsome or just funny case around it as a litlle project. Do you have any suggestions for a (to be made or modded) casing for the system, it's mini atx.

I always wanted to put a new system into an older case. Like leave the outside the same but change the inside.

well, the system is already really old so that one wouldn't work, but still, seems like a fun idea

Bah!

I have been toying with the idea of using an old Nintendo Entertainment System to make a computer to act as my router. "Myryrai" eyes the 8 NES's sitting in his closet

loooool, why 8??

wat

I am not sure what exactly you mean by wat, so I will give a few answers :D

1. Why would you destroy the NES to build a computer?

Pretty much because I have 8 and not all of them work, so having them just sit there is pointless. Add to that the idea of being to justify having a NES sitting out again just makes me all sorts of happy.

2. Why do you have so many?

I tend to be impulsive and love my retro gaming, so I tend to buy up the old cartridge games/consoles at every opportunity.

3.Why are they in your closet?

I can only hook so many up to my tv at once and since they can not be networked there is no point in having them all out to play with.

If none of those are right let me know and I can try answering your question again, though it may help if you explain it a bit more :P

Do a mufflered case like I did.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

What do you mean by mufflered case? I looked it up but got pages about silencing fans/cases.

If you look at the four intake fans, they're behind a series of plates, right? Those make up my intake muffler. The sound does not have a straight path to the outside, and actually must take several paths of different lengths, thus interfering with itself and canceling itself out. A more simple way to do it is just set it up in such a way that there's no direct line of sight and just line it with soft materials. Or you can do both. Some cases, like the Define R4 and the H440, have some sort of sound baffle over the intake fans. The H440 also has one on the top. My homebuilt case has them on all intakes and exhausts, which means the front, bottom and the rear. This does block access to the rear IO, but all the cables are routed out the bottom so it's fine. It's not perfect because I ran out of sound-absorbing materials and just called it finished, but it's very quiet the way it is, even though the fans I'm running are quite cheap.

These fans, in fact. They were 0.99£ each when I bought them.
