Im going to go buy one today. I know about the "silicon lottery", but is there anything i could look for to maybe get a better chip ?

But in all seriousness, you can't really do anything, unless you have time travel abilities.

Some people say batch numbers help.

 

I've been told L4 batches are generally better than L3s. But it's still random.

 

A lot of people said L3s from Malay were terrible. Mine is a L3 from Malay and it's a good i5.

It's not like GPUs where EVGA gets the cream of Nvidia's crop AND additionally performs internal binning. There's nothing you can really do for the CPU lottery.

Thanks everyone! about to roll out to Micro Center (1 hour drive ugh )

And even if i get one that doesnt OC well, ill still be happy with it :)
