Hello guys ,

                    I am thinking of building my very first pc in December of this year.I need a computer that runs as silently as possible so that i can code in peace and play some games occasionally.

I want to have a 240gb ssd for the OS and  2x 1 TB hdd in RAID 1 (i got my fair share of hdd failures).Of course i have external hdd for regular backup as well

Specs :

Parts List (Inspired by LinusTechTips
)

Intel Core i7 4770K "Haswell" CPU (Could you give me the exact model so that i can buy the correct one from ebay)
Samsung 840 pro 256GB
ASUS Sabertooth Z87 motherboard
Fractal Design Define R4
GeForce GTX 780 video card
WD Green 2x2TB hard drive (RAID 1)
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 RAM (Could you please tell me the exact model with MHz etc... so that i can buy the correct ram off ebay )
Seasonic G Series 650W power supply
bequiet! Dark Rock 2 CPU cooler  (thinking to replace this with Corsair Hydro Series™ H55 Quiet CPU Cooler for less noise)
ASUS DRW-24B1ST 24x SATA DVD Writer

Budget : $2000

I have a couple of doubts regarding this build

1) Is replacing the bequiet! Dark Rock 2 CPU cooler with  Corsair Hydro Series™ H55 Quiet CPU Cooler worth it ?
2) Will Corsair Hydro Series™ H55 Quiet CPU Cooler fit in my case ?
3) Will i need to add a fan if i use the Corsair Hydro Series™ H55 Quiet CPU Cooler to cool other components such as Video card ,ram,hdd and ssd ?
4)How can i connect the 2 WD green hdd in RAID 1 , does the motherboard has some provision for that ( a video would be awesome)
Some questions may sound stupid but please bear with me as its going to be my first build

What do you guys think

that PSU wont be silent, why get sabertooth mobo? overly expensive if you wont even be looking at it in the silent closed no window R4, bequiet with their fan or a noctua will be quiet and more than enough, replace all the stock case fans with be quiet or noctua and run them on silece in bios.

i got a gpu and my loudest components are PSU and my Noctua industrial fan which for some reason dont want to do what i want, oh and my WD greens...

you can configure the drives in windows to not spin up unless you use them .

A psu that doesn't spin the fan unless at load would be great for you . I believe corsair RM and and higher end AX/AXi series have that . In this case it would be good to buy a psu with extra watts

@Si3Rra_7

I will consider buying the 4790k for the cpu.Do you know  a cheaper but reliable GPU(i am not a hardcore gamer so i will do fine with 2gb VRAM , Radeon seems to be cheaper)

sabertooth seems to be more reliable and dust resistant.I want my pc to last for 8-10 years.Ofcourse i will clean things up regularly with compressed air .That's why i am considering such high end mobo

So the liquid cooler is a waste of money then and no worth the buck ?

@Rorgash

What PSU do you recommand then ....won't the case damp most of the noise .I believe the Fractal Design Define R4 is a great case

or you buy 2-3 fan filters for 10$ and save 100 :/ and unless you bank up mm of dust so to create over heating dust wont be any problem for you at all, so really cleaning it once every 2 years would cover that.

the PSU has a went hole both in the back and bottom with no dampening, corsair RM series has no fan spin, and i think a few others are coming in with these aswell now..

also you dont want a AOI since the rad will create wind noise with the fan and those arent very well dampened.

oh and in 8-10 years our PC´s wont be ANYTHING like what we have today, so i highly doubt you will keep it, i mean we are talking windows XP and 128-256mb gpus here... (8 years ago)

Yup 8 years is a bit over the top but 5-6 is what i am aiming for at a minimum.

The sabertooth mobo looks very sexy

The case include fan filters as far as i can remember

I plan to clean it every 6 month or so:)

@Rorgash

You convinced me i will go for   RM Series™ RM650 — 650 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Fully Modular PSU.

Can you please tell me the exact ram linus use in his silent pc build shown in the video

Thank you so much

@Rorgash

What HDD you recommand ?

The WD green is fast and reliable enough or you know better ones within the same price ( a bit more won't matter)

HDD failure is hell man:P

HDD´s are a bit meh, i personally only got my old ones left and just buying SSD´s now, so sadly i cant help much on the HDD front
