Hello,

Is the H100i Stock thermal paste any good? I ask this because it's spread out and not like a blob, like you are supposed to. Would I get better temps by using the blob, if so by how much?

Also my H100i is not showing up in my corsair link software. I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 7, and a 4690k. I connected the cables right.

I have windows 8.1 64bit.

Please help.

Thanks in advance!

I believe you must connect it to the motherboard via a USB header.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Try reconnecting the USB header cable, and the 3 pin fan connector that's pluged into the CPU fan header. If that doesn't help contact Corsair, they are really good about getting you a new one.

I did.

I did connector it. I bought the Cooler in the USA, and live in Canada.

The stock is fine, though it may be better to use your own.

the stock paste is fine, if you remove, then use noctua NT-H1 or MX4 for a replacement

short cure times and non-conductive/corrosive

Hello,

I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard, and an i5 4690k.

I tired to OC it to 4.4Ghz @ 1.23V and it did ~75C under aida 64 Extreme. What's wrong? Also I'm using the stock thermal paste, and corsair link is not working for me.

Thanks in advance. And also whats's the temp I'm supposed to be getting?

oh ok, it likely has to do with your thermal paste then, or the fans on your rad may not be working all the way, i suggest bumping the fans to the max as a test then adjust your fan curve to get temps down if you desire

I think it's your thermal paste. It's not too bad, but since it's pre-applied in a flat square shape, the middle doesn't come in full contact between it.

Repaste and give us your temps.

MSI Z97 Gaming 7. The fans are in the pump, I think they do it auto, since corsair link wont work.

Also, I'm really really low on thermal paste. Only a bit left. I tried to use every last bit. I made multiple blobs of it each one kinda short.

thanks in advance!

Well, its way worse now, idle at 50-60..... NVM those are bios temps, motherboard in windows reads: 35-45C, is this good (idle).

Super Super high temps now...

Repaste and give us your temps.

Even worse, fails stress test (90+c) in less than 30seconds...

How did you apply it? Did you screw it properly?

It could also be a bad pump. It's not circulating the coolant properly.

It think I did lol. I don't think it's the pumps fault. I think it's the fact that I had bearly any thermal paste.

Put a pea-sized. Go on YouTube and watch TekSyndicate do a video on it and you'll have an idea of how much. JayzTwoCents did one too but that vid is old.

Any cheap one with good reviews.

Arctic Silver 5, Arctic Cooling MX-2/MX-4, Noctua ND-H1, IC Diamond. They should only be $5-$10 for a few grams.

AIO coolers aren't that great. radiators are crap, fans usually crap, and pump is junk as well. If you want a water cooled PC I'd suggest make your own custom loop because their is not short cut with AIO. They just simply aren't that great! . I had a AIO and i had temps in the high 40's to mid 50's all the time and was very disappointed in that. So I went and built a custom water loop for my sli and cpu and now under full load it don't get over 38 degrees and idles at 28 degrees.

I had the same issue with my H100i. I had to reapply my own thermal paste and it fixed the high temp issues. I also had the issue where Corsair link never worked for me. So I plugged my fans into the motherboard and control them with Asus fan xpert 2 software which is much better then Corsair link for doing fan curves.

Dude, I told you to avoid the H100i. Likely a mounting problem, not making proper contact. Needs a washer mod.

I have always used the stock thermal paste, and my temps have always been fine. I doubt there will much of a temp difference of you put a differnt thermal paste on using the blob method
