Windows 8 Boot Usb

Hi, I'm going to install Windows 8.1 64 bit off of a usb. How large a usb will I need?

well, a DVD is 4.7gb i think, and windows boots off of that, so a 8gb would do great!

 

or buy a external optical drive and use it when you need to, trust me, they are handy to have

4GB would be more than enough but you might get away with 2GB.

A typical Windows 64-bit ISO usually is around the size of 3 - 3.5GB. So a 4GB USB flash drive should suffice. ;)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Despite the capacity of a standard DVD being 4.7GB. A Windows DVD doesn't take up any more that 3 - 3.5GB of that 4.7GB on the disc. So he should be fine with a standard 4GB USB flash drive. ;)
