Hi everyone, I rendered some video in Vegas Pro 12 with this settings:

720p AVC

CABAC

HIGH and MAIN profiles

23.976 fps as source

2 RefFrames

Variable Bitrate (avg 8000 - max 10000) and Costant Bitrate (10000kbps)

When I upload them to YT, no matter what settings I use, the quality is really bad, If I download the videos and check them with MediaInfo I can see Yt compressed them at avg 1500 - max 3500kbps, all using recommended settings

Is there a way to fix this? I'm in italy adn sadly, my upload is only 0.40 kbit, so I can't afford to waste my time uploading big video files that will look like crap...

Nope, That's just the way Youtube is. Try hosting it for yourself is the quality is that important.

Thanks for the no-help :)
Just want to know if there is a way other than insane bitrate and upsampling trick
From 10mbps to 3.5-1.5 is a massive compression, massiv loss of quality... no way to mitigate that? maybe another format? encoding settings? someone with direct experience?

Well these are the settings i use, they come out already on youtube i think, ( you can lower the 40fps to 30 if you want, i just have 40 cause it looks smoother when playing back on my pc but in youtube it makes no difference )

What is the quality compared to your local video? Any quality loss? If you download the uploaded video, you notice size/bitrate differences?

That's what youtube is, they're the largest distributor of low quality video. They increase the amount of content that they can distribute by decreasing their bandwidth requirements. If you really need higher quality then you should seek out another site to host on or (as suggested) do it on your own.

Yeah I know that, still you can find "good enough" HD video uploaded in the present, so I just want to know if the only way is to use insane bitrates and/or the upsampling trick
