DVI-D vs HDMI for gaming?

HP EliteDisplay E231 23-inch LED Backlit Monitor (ENERGY STAR).Is this a good 1080p monitor for gaming???? I don't have other monitors available.

DVI and HDMI are the same for gaming.

The only difference is that HDMI (1.4) doesn't support 1080p at 144hz (neither does DVI) But, Dual link DVI does support 1080@144hz. 

 

Basically...at 1080p 60hz any input will work (even VGA, but please...don't use VGA).

It doesn't make much of a difference, they both send the same signal.

 

The monitor is fine for average gaming, unless you are a semi-professional/professional gamer.

Don't get a backlit they are very unreliable and will burn out fast.

Hierarchy of ports to use for gaming:

 

Display Port 1.2+ > HDMI 2.0 > DVI > HDMI 1.x > VGA
