So i'm thinking of building a desk with built in speakers. Would this be too hard? and if not then where would i buy the speakers from? I don't want to get some and take them apart because it would probably be cheaper and easier just to get the actual speakers on their own.

Get a big chunk of wood and big speakers and use the speakers as a base for the desk.

No, they're meant for use as a ceiling speaker

You can buy the components from Madisound. They have a pretty good selection.

The point source design widens the sweet spot so speaker aim is less of an issue (important when the speaker is fixed to the desk).

It really depends on how much you want to spend and how good you want it to sound.  Custom DIY speakers are not hard, but there is a lot of math and design considerations to take into account.  Get it wrong and you are spending good money for an average result, get it right and you are saving money.
