Hello,

So i got this new laptop, Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series.  The number-lock is on every-time I turn the laptop on.  I tried to turn it off from run>regedit, but that failed because apparently it cant override the bios settings. The bios in my laptop does not have the option to turn Number-lock On/Off.   Is there any other way other than the two I mentioned to have the Number-lock turned off when i turn the computer on?

Thank you!

Turn numlock off when it turns on? It's not that difficult.

Yea I can see anything in the BIOS that will allow you have numlock off.

I am confused, why can't you use the top row numbers instead?

I doubt you'll have an option, but you can have a look at Dell's hidden BIOS (if you have one). It's usually for fan control and throttling, but worth a look:

To do this, once your system is loaded, simply do Fn + Shift, and using the top number row keys: type: 1, 5, 3, 2, 4, all by holding Fn + Shift.

Now, scroll lock light should flash. It will flash until your turn off the system completely and turn it back on. Restart won't do. But don't do this now.

Now do: Fn + R, and you system should show a BIOS screen. Esc key will leave and return back to where you were in your Windows session.

If you can't find what you are looking for, Try Fn+T, if still no, try Fn + a key, to see if Dell added a menu with your system.

If you are playing music at the same time as you are doing this, expect it to go the last 1-2sec in a loop as you are in the hidden BIOS screens. It should continue to play normally once you leave, and back to Windows.
