Computer Dies at complete random

Go to solution Solved by HunterKiller94,

i know what the problem was!! the motherboard!! the gigabyte z97x-soc is crap. STAY AWAY FROM IT!! go for anything else but that damn thing.

i know the MB was the problem because i replaced it with another z97x-soc and the shutdown issue was still there, i replaced it with the Maximus VII Hero and its going great. even with a big overclock in place.

so again i say, AVOID THE Z97X-SOC!!

That almost sounds like the bios is messed up... not sure for your model but you could try flashing the previous version of bios...

i've updated it, no improvement, then changed from Bios 1 to 2, dual Bios MB. no improvement :/

it died while i was playing assassins creed :( it did the usual, die and restart in about 3 seconds. i turned off the OC and played the game under the same conditions and no problems.

Then I would send an email to the manufacturer and get a RMA started. Gigabyte has like a 3 year warranty on that motherboard... Bad apples happen but once all the kinks are worked out, it'll last a long time...

Any chance it's the PSU? I know it's an 80+ Gold 1000w but there could be a fault. My last pc would die every time I tried to burn a cd. I changed the psu and the problem stopped. Also have you tried without the graphics card yet?

i haven't tried without gpu yet. and wont till tomorrow due to being drunk at this moment :D  i definitely will try the power supply tomorrow as well. thankfully i have a spare 750w i used with the old computer that i know works :)

Run the PC with the stock settings/Optimal/XAMP profile settings. If it does not crash or what ever thne you know the problem is your Overclocking.

i think I've finally figured it out!! the MB has 2 12v slots. one 8 pin and a 4 pin. i managed to call gigabyte and ask them if its ok to plug it in and they said yes do it, it improves stability. and they said if you do OC to the cpu leave the CPU voltage on auto. since i did that its loads better!! i'll be another couple of days of running it till i'm 100% sure its fixed so i'll be back to let you all know :)

yeah i've been running stock for a good while now. even with the new PSU it still shuts down... till now it seems. i've uninstalled the realtek audio driver and so far no problem. i've let the computer stay on for a few hours now and it stayed on... if it was the damn audio driver i swear i'll soot myself in the foot! i've replaced $500 worth of components to fix it. (thankfully i didn't have to pay for them. the shop i got the parts from replaced them)
