Hi people,

ill quickly detail my system:

Asrock z77 Extreme 4

Core I7 2600k

AMD R9 290x

8GB of Corsair LP vengeance 1600mhz

Bequiet Dark Rock Pro 3

Corsair 800GS

Corsair Force 3 128GB SSD

3x 24" 1080p displays

right the question is, do you people think its worth upgrading to a 3770k for the extra bit of performance and bonus of PCI-E 3.0? do you think ill gain much performance on the 290x?

or would it be a case of upgrade to a 4000 series for a noticeable boost?

mainly used for gaming, streaming, and casual work.

Thanks

Your cpu is fine, and PCIe 2.0 is more than sufficient for single and even most dual card setups.

If you are maxing out your cpu, upgrading to an i7 4790k would make sense. Depends on how heavily you utilize your cpu

I would say no. Current GPU's are not maxing out the bandwidth of PCI-E 2.0 so the jump to 3.0 would net 0 gain.

No, you wont see any bottle necking with the 2600k for streaming/gaming. I would stream with my 2500k without issue.
